Our third trip to Africa and this trip (08/2024) blew all the others away. Every detail of this safari, from flights to transfers to accommodations to meals to local guides, was planned & executed with an attention to detail that is unparalleled. Rebecca in the home office was in regular contact prior to the trip, offering packing tips, travel advise, updating contact information in case of emergencies and recommending options for weather-dependent side-trips – even the ones we’d booked independently.  Peter, a storied South African wildlife veterinarian & bush guide, led the daily game viewing. He proved himself cheerfully informative & quietly capable. He has a staggering depth of knowledge concerning southern African fauna and it’s ecological & economic impact on the local peoples. The proffered information was delivered in an entertaining & easy manner. His insightful stories about life in South Africa and geopolitics were fascinating & often funny. Lodging was truly impressive. The lodges selected were super clean, quiet & safe. In fact, Brothers arranged one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in. Meals were plentiful and tasty. This was my first trip with Brothers Safari and my second trip to South Africa. This 2-week Veterinary Safari, in August 2024 was absolutely amazing and the trip of a lifetime! Dr. Brothers offers an exceptional and educational experience to both veterinarians and non-veterinarians. The trip included morning and evening game drives that don’t disappoint. Elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, lions, antelopes, kudus, cape buffalo, waterbucks etc all crossed our path. To observe these magnificent animals in their natural habitat was humbling. In addition, Dr. Brothers rounds out those experiences with an in-depth knowledge of their behaviours, their health, their conservation and management.
And then there was the hands-on experiences. On our trip, we had the privilege of working with elephants, lions, rhinos and wild dogs. Both veterinarians and non-veterinarians had jobs to do. Dr. Brothers’ experience and command of each situation created a safe environment in which we could make a difference protecting these majestic species. I should also stress how the whole experience was seamless, including arrivals, transfers and departures. Rebecca Brothers did a fantastic job prior to the trip with regular emails that included advice on what to pack, what to wear, (yes, August is very cold) how to schedule flights and help with extra accommodations. Overall, we stayed at 3 different locations as we travelled to different preserves. Each accommodation was unique and yet all were superb. The food was delicious and the staff always warm and welcoming. If you are at all considering an African safari, definitely choose Brothers Safari. They are absolutely the best. Trip of a lifetime! During my 3 weeks with Brothers Safaris, we got an excellent tour of KwaZulu-Natal and the Northern Cape. Dr. Brothers is very knowledgeable about many species and has a keen eye for spotting animals that most people (including myself) would’ve missed. The tour is a mix of conservation, tourist activities, with plenty of opportunities to learn. Dr. Brothers is also great about ensuring the safety of all tour participants. In July 2023, I travelled to South Africa on a 16-day African Vet Safari Program led by Dr. Brothers. The program focused on modern-day conservation in Africa. We were part of a group of 12. This was my first trip to Africa and it did not disappoint!! Trip planning was a breeze; Peter and Becky Brothers provided lots of detailed information, including the itinerary, well in advance of the trip so we could easily plan our flights, vaccinations, attire to bring, trip add-ons, etc. The itinerary was very detailed and accurate so we knew exactly what we were going to be doing each day. The destinations were amazing, perfect for a first time visitor to Africa. We were able to learn about conservation from different viewpoints, including at a private game reserve, at Kruger National Park, at a wildlife rehabilitation center, and at a private reserve adjacent to the Park. We also were also able to take part in more leisure and cultural activities, such as visiting an artisan collective, which gave us the chance to interact more closely with the wonderful local people- this really rounded out the trip. Peter was a great guide!
