Day 2 – 5 : Jock Safari Lodge

You will be met by a representative of Brothers Safaris and transferred to Cape Town International Airport in time for your connecting flight onto your next destination. Transfer time is approximately 20 Minutes. Check in for your flight from Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Remember that this is a domestic flight and so check in is 1 1/2 hours prior to departure (flight cost is included in the safari cost).

On arrival, you will be met by a representative of Brothers Safaris and transferred to your next destination – Jock Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park. Transfer time approximately 2 1/2 hours, depending on the route, since most will travel inside Kruger National Park and thus at slow speeds.

Your home for the next three nights is a stunning luxury safari lodge, situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the world famous Kruger National Park. Kruger is home to the “Big Five” of wildlife, and a wide variety of other animals and birds, which roam freely in their natural habitat. Species include 336 tree types, 49 fish species, 34 amphibian species, 114 reptile species, 507 different bird types and 147 mammal species. Here over 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms fuse with historical and archaeological sites – this is real Africa.

The Lodge is nestled where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers flow as one, situated in the South-Western corner of the Kruger National Park and offers 6,000 hectares of exclusive traversing rights in an area of the park which is celebrated for its big five game viewing. You will stay in a luxury thatched on-suite unit, carefully screened by lush trees and reed walls to impart a sense of aloneness and oneness with the landscape. Your room has a private minibar, air-conditioning, a private plunge pool, and a Sala (outdoor day bed) overlooking the river.

Check in and enjoy some leisure time, before heading out late afternoon on a private guided game drive, in an open game viewing vehicle. Experience sundowners in a scenic location in the bush, as the sun slowly sinks beneath the horizon and then slowly make your way back to the lodge, looking out for nocturnal species on route. Freshen up back at the lodge before dinner in camp, and a good night’s rest, listening to the night sounds of Africa. Your overnight accommodation is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner, high tea, game drives, guided walks, tea, coffee, water, game drive beverages, tourism levy and VAT. Other drinks and extras are not included.

On days 3 and 4, as dawn breaks over the African bush, a gentle tap on your door will wake you to the delights of a new day. After morning tea or coffee and rusks, it’s time to head out on your morning game drive, looking for the many species of wildlife that abound in the reserve. Not only can one expect to see different species at different times of the day, but they may also be busy with different activities/behaviour. So each drive is a chance to discover something new! Enjoy a coffee break while out on drive, and head back to the lodge mid-morning for a delicious breakfast.

If you wish, you can walk off your breakfast on a short walk near your lodge, accompanied by your ranger, who will share his insight into the smaller animals and vegetation in the area.

Delight in some leisure time before high tea mid-afternoon. After high tea you head out on another game drive, in search of species not yet seen!

Return to your lodge early evening to freshen up and savour a mouth-watering dinner beneath the magnificent African sky, and some African tales around the campfire.
